January 2012 – What’s Coming Up?

February/March – we’ll have Cluster Groups meet in several areas of Alabama and Georgia.  Stay tuned for dates and locations.

March 24 - Tiger vs. Tide Challenge – Let’s put the Alabama/Auburn rivalry up for something good!  This is a fundraiser in Birmingham for Auburn and Alabama’s Wesley Foundations.

Fall 2012 – Auburn Wesley Foundation turns 75!  And our building turns 50.  We’ll be celebrating with all of our alumni.  The date will be announced as soon as the AU football schedule is set.  Plan to spend your weekend with us in Auburn on the weekend with no game.

Wesley’s Wish List

This wish list was published in the newsletter mailed out in May, 2011.  It’s not exhaustive, just some suggestions if you’re looking for something specific to give to Wesley, or if you have an extra one of something in good shape that you want to share.

~ Filling needs for Tornado victims first, no question!

~ New Chairs – Stackable and cushioned, for worship and dinners

~ Carpet for the guys’ dorm upstairs

~ Donations toward replacing our faltering A/C unit downstairs. Approximate cost: $100,000

~ Office furniture, especially chairs for the black hole (David’s Office)

~ Furniture for the upstairs Bible study room

~ Lawnmower, Weedeater, Landscape tools

~ Water coolers or other containers for serving tea and lemonade at dinners

~ Window treatments for the front windows

Happy 2011!

Happy new year and WAR EAGLE!  It’s great to be an Auburn Tiger, and even greater to be a child of God.  I hope your new year is off to a good start.  If you don’t find what you’re looking for on this site, check out the information on facebook on the Auburn Wesley Alumni group, or email us under the “Contact Us” tab across the top of this page.  We want to help you keep up with what’s going on at Wesley and with the alumni.  Suggestions are always welcome, too.

Blessings,
Patricia B. Stevenson

Waaaarrrr Eagle!

This year we’re trying something different!  We’ll have 5th quarter at Wesley after every home Auburn game instead of a tent before the game.  You – alumni, friends, family, students – are invited to come to Wesley after the game (and rolling Toomer’s.) Hang out with us: Fun, food, football, fellowship! 5th quarters will be hosted by alumni and students, alternately.  Waaaarrrr eagle!

Home schedule:

  • 9/04   AU vs. Arkansas State
  • 9/18   AU vs. Clemson
  • 9/25 AU vs. South Carolina
  • 10/2   AU vs. Louisiana-Monroe
  • 10/16 AU vs. Arkansas
  • 10/23 AU vs. LSU
  • 11/6   AU vs. Tennessee-Chattanooga – Homecoming!
  • 11/13  AU vs. Georgia

Hope you’ll come every time you’re in town!

Wesley’s on the Road!

It’s that time of year again!  David and Patricia are hitting the road and coming to see some of you.  We’ll be in Huntsville/Madison, Montgomery, and Birmingham in January and February.  Check out the details under the Events tab above, and join us if you will be nearby.  We’d love to see you!

Notice the new tab above!

We have a new tab, labeled “Support”.  We appreciate all of the support that you give the Auburn Wesley Foundation.  Under this tab, you can find out how to better support the ministry through your prayer and your financial support. Check out how our matching campaign is going, as well.  Thank you, and blessings to you!

Retreat Pictures Up!

Sorry for the delay in posting everyone. Illnesses have been running around the house lately, which is why they weren’t put up the past week or so. Prior to that…I have no excuse. Sorry guys!

You can check them out in under Retreat photos in the Community–>Photo Gallery at the top. Or click here.

And as always, be sure to drop in the Message Boards and chat awhile. Also don’t forget to update your Contact info. on CMIST.

In His Service,

~Heath

Tying up the Alumni Retreat

Hey Y’all!

I so enjoyed seeing you all at the alumni retreat! And enjoyed
visiting, sharing, and worshiping with you. Byron Hall shared all the
photos he took over the weekend and I’ve emailed them to Heath. Heath
will place all the pictures we send him on the alumni website in the
photo gallery under the community tab. Remember, it’s www.auwesleyalumni.org
. The pictures aren’t there yet . . .please send any good pictures
you took of alumni & families to webmaster@auwesleyalumni.org.

I’d also like to hear constructive criticism from you about the
weekend. Your comments will not be shared with your name with
anyone. I will save them anonymously in a file, to be used in
planning for the next retreats, so tell me what was good or bad or
just what might be different next time. Change can be very good!

Here are some possible things to think about:
Structure – Childcare – Spiritual Growth Content – Music/Worship – Food
Were the sessions too long?
Do we have the right number of sessions?
Do you wish we had more meals included?
Did we have enough free time?
Was it too structured or too loose?
What can encourage more to come?
Did non-Wesley spouses feel included?
Is it helpful to have a hotel set up? Other hotel suggestions?
Childcare? Good? Bad? Other?
Do you have suggestions to make our next experience together different
and as meaningful?
We’re considering having groups by the years you were active at Wesley
next time?
Did you feel connected enough with the current Wesley ministry?
Would you like time that you can schedule to go into . . . the black
hole (aka David’s office)?
Suggestions for who to contact as a speaker?
Suggestions specifically for the next speaker?
Suggestions for worship together?

Next retreat – Beach Retreat, summer of 2010 – - – - suggestions on
location or on timing? Thinking about June right now, but that means
a new location.

Next Auburn Retreat – Winter of 2012 – - – - was mid-February good?
(there’s no perfect time, though. I’ve learned that!)

Next Fall . . . would you like specific football weekends to target
specific decades? Or maybe getting the message boards (under the
community tab) going on the alumni website (under the community tab)
will get friends knowing when other friends will be in Auburn. We
need to get that networking working better! Remember to contact me if
you don’t know your password for cmist or the message board. They are
one and the same.

New Retreat Information!

Since you are an alum of the Auburn Wesley Foundation, I’d love you to
email me a current picture of you (and family?) to share at the alumni
retreat next weekend! Please send a current picture, with names of
those in it (& grad date for alumni), to alum@auwesley.org.
Especially send one if you won’t be coming, but I think it would be
fun to have everyone’s picture! It may be a long slideshow, but who
cares? We do have a great list of people coming – the attendees listed
on the facebook event are only the tip – I’ll tack on the list at the
bottom of this email.

If you are coming and would like to go to the AU vs. Mississippi State
men’s basketball game, email me. Tickets are regularly $15, but if we
have 20 or more, they are $5!!! Please email me by Sunday, February 8,
if you’d like tickets.

For an updated schedule, click on over to the retreat page!
